Something about the artist
I'm an illustrator who works primarily in pen and ink and watercolor from my studio near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
In the field of fashion illustration, my clients have included Loup Charmant (Brooklyn), Anais & I (New York), Le Vestiaire de Jeanne (France), Suvi Ainoa (California), and Naive Days (Norway), among others. My children's fashion illustrations have also appeared in "la petite magazine."
My classical pen and ink drawings have shown in a number of galleries including the Kiesendahl + Calhoun Gallery in Beacon, NY, the Fletcher Gallery in Woodstock, NY, and the Broome Street Gallery in Manhattan, and hang in personal collections around the world.
My early training came from my parents, the late artist and National Academy of Design member Edward A. Chavez and wildlife painter Eva Van Rijn.
I was trained formally in architectural illustration and interior rendering at the New York School of Interior Design, and went on to study painting and drawing at Il Chiostro in Italy.
I work primarily in children's illustrations, fashion illustrations, paper dolls, jointed dolls, and silk-screened clothing.
